ScootStock 2011 Rocked!

We had a great time at ScootStock 2011! Fifty-two riders, 10 guests and numerous friends joined us for a weekend of great rides, adventure, fantastic food, prizes and of course - rockin' live music by the String Demons and The Cronin Brothers. Even the rainstorm on Saturday night didn't dampen any spirits! See the photos page for links to some of the photo albums created by our riders. Were you there? Do you remember? Shout it out on the comments page.

This is how it went down:

FRIDAY, AUG. 5
In the afternoon, ScootStock Acres opened for business. A few riders rolled in early to pitch tents and ride together to Great Plains for the Meet-n-Greet

Meet-n-Greet was held at our 500 cc Sponsor: Great Plains Cycle Supply. The Rockers met the Mods, we shopped for gear and won some nifty prizes (thanks, Noah!) shopped for gear, sampled delicious treats from our 250 cc Sponsor: the Cup, and enjoyed a movie outdoors under the summer night sky.

SATURDAY, AUG. 6
We had a wonderful breakfast of bagels and cream cheese. Slammed some coffee. Grabbed our swagbags and joined our scavenger hunt families: Moon Beam, Liberty Rain, Tangerine Dream, Marmalade Skies, Blue Karma and the infamous Paisley Daisies.

Teams took to the streets on their assigned routes to secret stops with questions. The Liberty Rain group won! We noshed on gourmet boxed lunches from the Cup at the historic Ferguson House. Afterwards, we stopped in front of the Capitol for a group pic.

After lunch, we stopped for ice cream. Not just any ice cream... Scooter Pie ice cream custom made by the wizards of cake and ice cream from the Cup and Ivana Cone!

Groovy Group Rides
Taste of Nebraska
ScootStock leaders took riders with bigger scooters to Friend, Nebraska. They stopped at “The Pour House,” an historic Opera House now wining and dining visitors from across the U.S.

Art Tour of Nebraska
Riders toured through the Haymarket, University of Nebraska (downtown/east campus), Memorial Stadium, and other venues. These stops featured the outdoor exhibits around Sheldon Memorial Art gallery and the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Green Peace Tour of Lincoln
Rolled throughout the parks and green spaces of Lincoln. We relaxed among the psychedelic flowers and foliage at Lincoln's Sunken Gardens.

The gang all reconvened for the Show-n-Shine contest at our 250 cc Sponsor: Brandl Cycle with prizes for Grooviest Scooter, Rat Trap, Best Mod and Vintage Classic. Congratulations to our winners!

Dinner Bell! We all had puppy bellies after chowing down the succulent bar-be-que of Cowhorn Pepper Co. Then we swang to the classic country swing of the String Demons, who whipped up a frenzy not only on the ground, but in the skies as well. A torrent of a storm took place during the intercession. We lost a couple of tents and it was pretty crazy out there, but soon it cleared up enough for more rockin' thanks to The Cronin Brothers.

Later in the evening, some scooterists went for a night ride to check out the storm damage. Turns out ScootStock Acres was the safest place to be. The storm knocked out power, dropped trees and power lines and caused mayhem all over Lincoln.
SUNDAY, AUG. 7
We had pizza for breakfast! The morning kind with eggs, cheese and sausage. Yum!
Then we dug out our dollars for more raffle tickets. There were so many prizes, it took an hour to get them all won.

Gymkana was next on the agenda with obstacles like a teeter totter and the pivot of peril. Didn't scare Leah any, though. You go girl!

Noon- we had the perfect picnic with fried chicken, salad and chips. I forgot the cookies or we would have had those, too.

All too soon, it was all done. Hugs were shared, things were packed and off everyone went to their "regular" lives. But then on Monday, we all reconvened on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/groups/scoot2thrill/

Tune in, turn on and ride scooters
